Teguh Appreciates the Success of Jakarta Gubernatorial Election 2024

Jakarta Acting Governor, Teguh Setyabudi, agreed with assessment of the Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) which said the implementation of Jakarta Gubernatorial Election (Pilkada) 2024 went democratically, peacefully, and conducively thus it deserves to be a role model of democracy for other regions in Indonesia.

"Jakarta Election 2024 deserves to be a role model because it runs democratically, peacefully, and conducively," he said when opening the Institutional Coordination Meeting with Stakeholder in Strengthening Institutions and Evaluating the Implementation of Regional Head Election 2024 at Manhattan Hotel, Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, Kav 19-24, Karet, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (2/5).

He also appreciated Jakarta Bawaslu and all stakeholders for their hard work in fulfilling their duties in organizing simultaneous Pilkada 2024.

"I appreciate the hard work of Jakarta Bawaslu and all stakeholders who have carried out supervisory duties thus the implementation of Jakarta Election 2024 went democratically, peacefully, and conducively," he stated.

He also conveyed that there are things that become a concern in the event, namely an increase voter participation due to massive and inclusive education and socialization considering the low level of voter participation in Jakarta Election 2024, which reached 57.52 percent.

"Then, prioritizing the principles of neutrality and integrity in organizing elections to maintain a conducive situation for election," he added.

He also asked Jakarta Bawaslu to start utilizing technology in organizing and supervising elections to create effeciency and transparency while maintaining public trust in elections.

"Last but not least, it is important to strengthen the synergy between stakeholders in coordination between KPU, Bawaslu, local government and other institutions to ensure that every stage of the election is carried out well, thus transparent, honest, and fair elections can be achieved for the community," he asserted.

Jakarta Bawaslu Chairperson, Munandar Nugraha added that his side was grateful that the implementation of Jakarta Election 2024 could run democratically, safely, and conducively.

"We humbly express our sincere gratitude to the political parties and the success team of the candidate pairs competing in Jakarta Election 2024 for not using SARA issues thus the potential for vulnerability can be suppressed," he mentioned.

He also hopes the conduciveness of Jakarta Election 2024 can be maintained in the upcoming Jakarta Election 2029 through socialization to students who are still in junior high school.

"Because the current junior high school students will be beginner voters in 2029 elections. In the next five years, we will have a generation that is aware and understands that having different choices is normal," he closed.
